Elemental

Pour sand. Boil water. Set a log on fire, then seal it in stone and watch it choke. The old Flash element games were the starting point. This is that idea brought into 2026, where the heat and the air actually behave.

You start with four things: sand, water, air and heat. Everything else you have to make. Boil water and you've found steam. Get sand hot enough to melt, let it cool, and that's glass.

▍ THE NUMBERS

FROM THE TEST SUITE
~300 KBThe whole game. Smaller than most photos on your phone.
230,400Cells simulated every frame on the default map, all on the graphics card.
< 0.1%Energy drift over ten seconds of heat flowing, water boiling and air moving. Heat doesn't appear from nowhere or leak away.
21Things to discover in this build, each one logged in the Codex with the real science behind it.

The physics has its own test suite that runs against the real game code: oil floats, ice floats, sand sinks, water holds at its boiling point, a sealed fire dies while an open one burns, and molten sand turns to glass or obsidian depending on how it cools.

▍ UNDER THE HOOD

  • ▸Every grain stores real heat energy, so ice sits at 0 °C while it melts and water holds at 100 °C while it boils.
  • ▸The air tracks oxygen, water vapour, CO₂, smoke and pressure as it moves. Fires in a sealed box use up their air and die.
  • ▸Oil floats on water and so does ice. Sand sinks. Hot air rises and cold air slides in underneath to feed a fire.
  • ▸Boiling depends on pressure, so a sealed box acts like a pressure cooker. Push it too far and weak walls crack.
  • ▸Sand melts into glass, or obsidian if it hits water. Lava cools into basalt. Wood cooked without air turns into charcoal.
  • ▸Anything hot enough glows the colour it really would. Flip to the Heat, Pressure, Humidity or Oxygen view to see what's happening underneath.
