Pixelate throws the resolution away and puts it back: clean area-averaged downscale, hard nearest-neighbour return. From censor-mosaic to 8-bit landscape depending on how much you take. Mask it and only the chosen region loses definition.

Structural Displacement effects move the picture itself — pixels, blocks, and scanlines leaving their assigned seats. In C-Suite they stack with every other phase, take masks, and (in Glaedr) ride LFOs or the audio, so the destruction lands exactly where and when you choose.
